Paintings
Acrylic on coloured paper. The sheet is left bare wherever the sky should be, so the ground does the work the sky would do.
Night paintings
Worked on black paper in small, dense strokes: turquoise islands, green-lit paths, meadows built up until they hold light.
In the studio
Every print begins as a drawing carved by hand into the block, then inked and pulled one impression at a time.
Prints & editions
Hand-cut linocuts, hand-pulled in small editions, each impression signed and numbered. The most affordable way to own the work.

About
Sara Aslam Noorani is a painter and printmaker who lives and works in Lahore, Pakistan. Her paintings begin with a sheet of saturated paper (red, cyan, pink, black) that is left unpainted wherever the sky should be. Onto that ground she sets what she sees around her, in colours nature never gave it: groves and garden archways, a swing, clouds, kites, guinea fowl. The subjects are ordinary and closely observed; the colour is not.
A parallel group of works is made on black paper in small, dense strokes: turquoise islands, boats on dark water, paths under blossom. Landscapes that seem to hold their own light rather than borrow it.
Alongside the paintings she carves and hand-pulls linocut editions in small runs: dense, directional line work whose subjects range from a willow with guinea fowl to an inflatable unicorn adrift at open sea.
Her solo presentation, The Geography of Memory, opens at Tagheer Lahore Creative Space on 4 September 2026.
